Natural Remedies for Intestinal Candidiasis
Intestinal candida is a problem people don’t talk about easily, but it’s more common than you think. It appears after antibiotics, after excessive consumption of sugar and white foods, and after periods of chronic stress that weaken immunity. The Candida albicans fungus is present in everyone. It lives on skin, in the mouth, in the intestines. But in a healthy proportion, it’s harmless. When good bacteria disappear, candida grows unchecked and makes life difficult.
Symptoms are diverse and strange: an obsessive craving for sugar that isn’t normal for you, fatigue that doesn’t improve with sleep, itching on the skin that comes and goes, a mental fog that clouds your thoughts and makes concentration impossible, chronic bloating, and sometimes even unusual issues in the genital area with itching and strange secretions. Some people have weird food cravings. It’s almost like some foreign force is controlling your body.
In the countryside, my grandmother knew how to fight this, even if she didn’t call it “candida.” She just knew that a certain plant has the power to calm the “fire in your belly” and restore order. Here’s how we can do the same, with dedication and patience.
Remedy 1: Apple Cider Vinegar with Garlic
A natural antibiotic that works better than you might think. This is one of the most powerful natural antifungals.
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar (with the mother culture visible at the bottom)
- 3-4 cloves of fresh garlic (crushed or minced, not powdered)
- 200 ml of warm water (not hot, warm)
- Optional: 1 teaspoon raw honey
How to prepare: Mix vinegar with warm water, add freshly crushed garlic and let sit for 5 minutes. This waiting time allows allicin to develop. Drink slowly on an empty stomach in the morning. Wait 30 minutes before eating. Repeat daily for 4-6 weeks without missing days. Acetic acid in raw vinegar destroys candida’s cell wall and changes gut pH to favor good bacteria. Allicin from garlic is a particularly powerful natural antifungal, as potent as some pharmaceutical antifungals. The combination is brutal to candida but safe for your good bacteria.
Why it works: Candida hates acid and garlic. The combination creates an environment hostile to fungal growth while supporting your beneficial bacteria.
Remedy 2: Thyme and Oregano Tea
Thyme and oregano are powerful antifungal herbs, stronger than some medications.
Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon of fresh thyme
- 1 teaspoon of oregano (preferably wild oregano)
- 300 ml of water
- Raw honey
How to prepare: Boil thyme and oregano in water for 10 minutes. Strain and let cool slightly. Drink warm, one cup 3 times daily. Continue for 6-8 weeks. Thymol and carvacrol in these herbs are compounds that destroy candida’s membrane without affecting beneficial bacteria.
Remedy 3: Sage and Wormwood Infusion
Sage is a powerful herb used by my ancestors for any internal infection.
Ingredients:
- 8-10 fresh sage leaves (or 2 tablespoons dried)
- 1 teaspoon of wormwood
- 400 ml of water
- Salt
How to prepare: Boil all ingredients for 8-10 minutes. Strain and drink one cup twice daily on an empty stomach. Continue for 8 weeks. Sage has broad antimicrobial effect, while wormwood helps the immune system identify and destroy candida.
Remedy 4: Pumpkin Seed Powder and Wormwood
A lesser-known recipe, but with remarkable results.
Ingredients:
- 100 grams of dried pumpkin seeds (finely ground)
- 1 teaspoon of wormwood
- 400 ml of water
How to prepare: Boil seeds in water for 20 minutes, then add wormwood and boil for 5 more minutes. Strain and drink one cup twice daily. Continue for 6 weeks. Pumpkin seeds contain antiparasitic and antifungal compounds, while wormwood stimulates the immune system.
Remedy 5: Linden Blossom and Calendula Tea
For candida that manifests on the skin (itching, redness).
Ingredients:
- 5-6 dried linden flowers
- 1 teaspoon of dried calendula
- Half a teaspoon of wormwood
- 350 ml of water
- Honey
How to prepare: Pour boiling water over flowers and cover for 15 minutes. Strain and drink warm, one cup twice daily. At the same time, you can apply a stronger tea (double strength) on the skin. Continue for 8 weeks. Linden calms overactive immune response, calendula repairs skin, while wormwood destroys the fungus.
Remedy 6: Oatmeal and Lard with Garlic
Not quite a tea, but an internal recipe that works wonderfully.
Ingredients:
- 50 grams of unpolished rice (or fine cornmeal)
- 3-4 cloves of fresh garlic
- 1 tablespoon of lard
- 2 cups of water
- Salt
How to prepare: Put water and lard on the fire, add rice and crushed garlic. Boil on low heat for 30-40 minutes until rice becomes very soft. Eat warm, 200 ml portions twice daily. Continue for 6-8 weeks. Rice feeds beneficial bacteria and has a calming effect on the intestines, while lard with garlic is a classic antifungal combination.
Anti-Candida Diet and Necessary Restrictions
- Eliminate white sugar, honey, molasses, and sweet fruits for 8 weeks. Sugar ferments and feeds candida like sugar feeds cockroaches in the kitchen.
- Stop eating white bread, pasta, white rice, and regular baked goods. Eat brown rice sparingly, dark bread without yeast if you can find it, well-cooked cornmeal.
- Avoid cow’s milk and moldy cheeses (roquefort, camembert) completely. They ferment and candida feeds on them.
- Drink 4 liters of water per day. Clean boiled and cooled water is the cheapest and most powerful medicine.
- Eat plenty of broccoli, leafy salad (not too much, it’s acidic), roasted chicken, fish, eggs, bone soups.
- Completely avoid alcohol, commercial juices, energy drinks, and even sugared tea.
- Quit chocolate, caffeine, and any fermented food (cheese, sauces, mushrooms) for this period.
- Eat only foods that spoil quickly, not foods that last for months. It’s a sign of active fermentation.
- This is temporary. After 8-10 weeks, you can reintroduce foods slowly and observe your body’s response.
Signs That Candida Is Decreasing
After 2-3 weeks you should notice a decrease in sugar cravings. After 4 weeks, energy should increase. After 6 weeks, skin itching should disappear. After 8 weeks, mental fog clears and concentration returns. If after 8 weeks you notice no improvement, it’s possible that it’s not candida but something else more serious.
Complementary Natural Remedies
Homemade kefir if you tolerate it, with live beneficial bacteria. Water with lemon first thing, acid helps digestion. Tea made from natural herbs known to be antifungal. Roasted and ground pumpkin seeds, antiparasitic. Black pepper, which contains piperine with antifungal activity. Coconut cream, which has antifungal medium-chain fatty acids. Pau d’arco tea, a traditional antifungal from South America that’s becoming known worldwide.
When to See a Doctor
If after 6-8 weeks of natural treatment candida doesn’t disappear, or if you feel serious consequences (severe skin rashes, breathing problems, fever, facial swelling), see a doctor urgently. Stool, blood, and culture tests can confirm candida and its severity. Your doctor can recommend powerful pharmaceutical antifungals like fluconazole if candida is resistant. But combined with these natural remedies. Don’t ignore severe symptoms.
